GARRETT NAMED TO SENATE MAJORITY LEADERSHIP TEAM

HIGHWOOD, IL— State Senator Susan Garrett (D – Lake Forest) has been named Senate Majority Caucus Whip for the 96th General Assembly by newly elected State Senate President John Cullerton. “Senator Garrett has made ethics, women’s rights and good government the cornerstone of her public service,” President Cullerton said. “Those are the qualities that she brings to the Majority leadership of the Illinois Senate.” “I look forward to this new challenge and to working even more closely with the members as we begin the 96th General Assembly. There is an air of a new beginning and I am very glad to have the confidence of the Senate President as we begin our work on behalf of the people of Illinois,” Garrett said. Senator Garrett has served in the Illinois Senate since 2003 and was a member of the Illinois House from 1998 - 2002. She was the chair of the Senate Public Health Committee (95th General Assembly) and the State Government Committee (94th General Assembly). Other past committee assignments have included Appropriations I, Education and Human Services. |
