HIGHWOOD, Illinois –Majority Caucus Whip and State Senator Susan Garrett (D-Lake Forest), State Representative Elaine Nekritz (D-Northbrook), State Representative Karen May (D-Highland Park), and U.S. Congresswoman Jan Schakowsky are proud to announce that the Illinois Mortgage Relief Project is coming to the northwestern suburbs of Chicago to help Illinois property owners who are at risk of losing their homes. The State of Illinois has established the Mortgage Relief Project to help you take advantage of new government programs that can help you lower your mortgage payments, avoid foreclosure and keep your home. Learn more at the local Mortgage Relief Project outreach event planned for Saturday, June 18th from 10a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Des Plaines Public Library. Free housing counseling is available by the Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation. Staff from the Attorney General's office will also teach you to recognize the tell-tale signs of mortgage fraud. Be sure to bring your latest mortgage documents (bills, statements, notice, etc.), two most recent paystubs, and your state ID or driver's license. For a list of all the documents that you would need to complete a full application for a loan modification, go to idfpr.com.
