CHILD CARE COALITION 'ROCKS'
HIGHWOOD, IL—Majority Caucus Whip and State Senator Susan Garrett (D-Lake Forest) joins Child Care Coalition of Lake County members, Charlene Ackerman and Sue Buhrmester in preparation for a Midsummer Garden Gala event to be held at the Ackerman home on Sunday, July 19 from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m.
The event will help support the educational activities of the Coalition which has been working for the past twenty years to work for the needs of children ages birth through six years of age, as well as their families through quality programs and services. The Coalition has been active in Lake County since 1989, and sponsors lectures, workshops and conferences for early childhood educators, as well as providing parent education seminars featuring well known professionals in the field.
The Midsummer Garden Gala will feature wine tasting, musical programs by The Silver Strings Quartet, and The Illinois Brass Band Quintet. There will be painted rocks for sale that were created by teachers, students, and children attending local day care centers. Refreshments will be provided, and home made bakery goods will be sold. All items and services have been generously donated to the Coalition for this gala event!
Numerous silent auction items are available to bid on, including jewelry created by local artisans, artworks, including a variety of media, and live plants and flowers.
Senator Garrett will "live auction" the pictured rock which was painted by professional artist Ethi Slavin.
